Our Christmas Top Ten

The Morrill Family Top Ten of Christmas 2009

10. Our trip to Temple Square with the Jones family--it was pretty disastrous and miserable, but we've had fun laughing about it since.

9. Ari's cheerleader doll, a surprise gift from Aurelia Moliner in California (the amazing lady Ari is named after). I hope Ari gets to meet her someday soon.

8. Robbie successfully sat on Santa's lap twice this year--before it has always been torture! Ari, of course, wouldn't have anything to do with the jolly old elf.

7. The overpowering santa air freshener we got as a white elephant gift (we had to drive home with the windows open) and then re-gifted at another white elephant exchange. We stored it in our garage for a few days and it STILL smells in there.

6. After much searching, triumphantly finding a lime tree for Nate's Christmas gift on December 23rd (I promise, this is something he asked for). I honestly believe it was the last one in the whole state. And thanks, Nate, for the amazing and thoughtful gift you got me.

5. A white Chritmas, which allowed us to have a sledding and hot dog roasting party on Christmas Eve with the Capels. I hope this becomes a yearly tradition!

4. The crazy nativity at the Morrills on Christmas Day was so fun. Grandma Morrill made cute little costumes.

3. Seeing Ari and Robbie hula dance to The Hawaiian Christmas Song. I think this is a memory I will smile about for years to come--too bad I didn't capture it on film.

2. Our first ever Christmas Eve on our own! We dressed up as people from Jesus' time (Nate, you really did look authentic with that monkey towel on your head) and ate a simple meal of fish, bread, cheese, and "wine" by candlelight, then read Luke 2.  Robbie really seemed to get into this!  Afterward we made cookies for Santa and read stories until we heard Santa's sleigh bells outside (thanks Grandma and Grandpa Morrill!) and Robbie booked it upstairs to bed.

1. It has been so special having a child old enough to understand a little bit about the real reason for Christmas. I think the whole experience of explaining things to Robbie really helped us to remember a little better what its all about!

A Christmas Slow Dance

Ari and cousin Gareth had a cute little slow dance in front of Grandma and Grandpa Capel's Christmas tree tonight. Ari wouldn't leave Gareth alone until he danced with her.

Happy Birthday, Robbie!

I can't believe our little man is already four years old! Happy birthday, we love you SO much!
ROBBIE AT AGE 4:
Catch phrase: I'm Robbie the helecopter guy fireman super hero!
Favorite pastimes: jumping on the bed, reading books with Mom or Dad, going to pre-school, playing with friends and cousins, playing outside, getting into mischeif, having full-fledged imaginary battles with imaginary enemies
Favorite toys: cars, trucks, trains, bikes, blocks, water (the bathrooms sink can entertain him for hours)
Funny habits: singing to himself, CANNOT sit or stand still (except when watching TV, go figure), a SLOW eater (takes him an hour to eat dinner)
Stuff he's good at: cleaning up after himself (he even takes his dishes to the sink and pushes in his chair after eating!), figuring out how things work, coloring/cutting/gluing, playing well with friends (but not so good playing with sisters yet--we'll keep hoping)
Favorite color: Green
My favorite things about Robbie: he's so cute, he's smart (I love it when he surprises us by using new big words, not always in quite the right way), he's very affectionate and energetic

A Knights & Princesses (& Cars) Party

On Saturday we had a big family Knights and Princesses birthday party with Robbie's "twin" cousin Abby. Nate made Robbie a neat sheild with the Morrill family crest on it. The kids made stick horses out of PVC pipe, socks, buttons and yarn and then rode around on them with swords and crowns. I think everybody had a great time!

Though he liked the idea of a being a knight, Robbie insisted on having a Cars cake.  He also got a Cars bike and already rides it pretty well.
