Help! My Kitchen is Ugly!

So, here's some pictures of the kitchen in our hopefully soon to be new house. Unfortunately it looks lots worse in real life.  The cabinets are in decent shape, but someboday put a white "milk wash" on them with some light blue mixed in and then some brown "antique-ing" type stain in the crevices. They just look wierd. The counter tops are kind of whitish grey with a little bit of lovely pastel blue and pink swirled in--hopefully we can remedy this with new counter tops in the future. Do any of you creative people out there have any ideas (that are cheap) for helping this kitchen? I've thought about painting the cabinets white and then painting the wall behind a dark tan or something. Other ideas are painting them black or stripping them and re-staining them (I'm only willing to do this if there is a relatively quick, easy way). HELP!

Ari's First Haircut

Ari was starting to look like "Cousin It" so we decided it was time for some bangs and took her to Cookie Cutters yesterday. Here's the BEFORE picture:
And here's the cute results:
Yay, I can see!

Goodbye, Draper Townhouse!

We said our last goodbyes to our Draper townhome yesterday and are now with my in-laws for a few weeks until everything is settled (and hopefully it all works out!) with our new house in Pleasant Grove. Thanks for sheltering us in the interim, Ron and Gayla, you've made us feel very 'at home'!

I didn't realize how sad I'd be to leave Daisyfield Drive. We have had a lot of happy memories there; we moved in around our first anniversary and brought home two babies there. Here's a few things we'll really miss:
  • Our little 15 by 20 backyard; its amazing what fun things we did in such a small space: backyard barbeques, planting a garden, family parties, swimming, playing ball, etc.
  • Biking and walking on the trails just a few blocks away, and playing in the park across the street.
  • Walking over to Boondocks on cold, boring days.
  • Great friends and neighbors, and lots of them! It seems like every time we went outside there was someone out there to talk to or play with.
  • Our awsome little one car garage that was our storage room, pantry, mechanic shop, junk dump, home improvement staging ground, mudroom, kids winter play area, and sometimes even had room to keep our car in.
  • The Harry Potter cupboard under the stairs.

Pretty "Pincess"

This morning Ari woke up with one thing on her mind--she wanted to be a princess.  She kept pointing at a dress in her closet and saying "Pincess, pincess!" over and over agian.  I can't believe this princess stuff is already starting, she's not even 20 months old!

An Empathetic Kid

Last night in the car we were singing "On Top of Spaghetti" and Robbie got very sad because he felt bad for the kid who didn't have a meatball anymore.  This reminded me about how a few months ago we read "The Giving Tree" to him and he literally wept because he felt so sad for the tree who gave up everything for the boy.  I was pretty surprised. I guess this shows a good quality in Robbie, we'll just have to be careful about what he watches and reads until he's a little older, I don't want to traumatize him!
